As high school students, we both recognized the necessity of education from an early age. Although we both originally had ideas of pursuing vastyle different futures, we soon realized the issues plaguing our community. We read about the closing of schools, lack of material for students, limited educational support, and racial injustice. These issues must be remedied. Inspired by DECA, we have decided to host our own event to directly combat these issues apparent in our lives. After locating a reputable charity with a vision that aligned with ours, we quickly moved forth to turn our plan into reality. 

We are proud to announce that all proceeds generated from our gala will be directly given to the United Way of King County, advocating for their work and aiding in their fight to provide education and equity for all Washingtonians. 

Where do Our Proceeds go?

The proceeds from this gala will be donated to United Way of King County in support of education and equity.  They aim to do the following: 

• Parentchild+ (home visiting program to improve literacy, cognitive, language skills, and social-emotional development) 

• Racial Equity Coalition (create communities of belonging for youth of color, offering after-school programs that celebrate their cultural identities and equip them with the tools to stay engaged in school)

• Home Grocery Delivery (provide groceries for families that cannot visit their local food bank, especially crucial since federally-funded programs for COVID-19 has ended)
